'Plasmonen' laten glasvezel en chip met elkaar praten |

Onderzoekers van het FOM-instituut AMOLF en de Universiteit Twente hebben een nieuw soort lichtbron ontwikkeld. Deze elektrische 'plasmonbron' zendt plasmongolven uit; lichtgolven die zo klein zijn dat ze in een computerchip passen. De lichtbron brengt voor het eerst glasvezelcommunicatietechnologie en computertechnologie bij elkaar. De onderzoekers publiceren hun werk op 6 december in het toonaangevende tijdschrift Nature Materials.

MicroNanoconference '09
The MicroNanoconference 2009, held on November 5th and 6th, was attended by more than 500 microtechnologists and nanotechnologists from academia and industry. This annual conference, an event jointly organised by Nanoned, MicroNed and MinacNed, took place in the Auditorium of TU Delft. The complete field of Dutch micro and nano activities was covered by combining the two extensive research programmes NanoNed and MicroNed with the trade organisation MinacNed.
